Buy Metric UNC or BSW Whitworth thread collared lifting eye bolts online, prices from £1.47.
Although there are quite a few different types of eye bolts for lifting purposes the collared variety are probably the best option. Therefore we will be listing a couple of collared eyebolts for sale which should cover the majority of lifting applications.

Why Lifting Eye Bolts?
Lifting eyebolts come in different designs. The most popular is the collared variety which are also sometimes called shoulder eyebolts. They are used to create a stable lifting point on various loads.
Lifting Equipment Ltd have chosen the collared eyebolt due to the fact that they can often be used for angled lifting tasks. The dynamo type can only be used for vertical, in-line tasks. The collar or shoulder sits between the eye and the shank and when fitted correctly it will give good support to the eye. Whilst also preventing the screw thread from bending when pulled on a slight angle.
Therefore the collared type is the most versatile. It comes in safe working loads up to around 12.5 tonne to buy online. Larges SWL may be available on request.
Collared Lifting Eye Bolt Features
All our collared eyebolts are drop forged from high tensile steel. This has also been quenched and tempered. They have an electro-galvanised finish and are self coloured. Each bolt meets the BS 4278 WLL requirements.
They have a minimum breaking load of 5 times the stated working load limit for optimum safety.
Each bolt is stamped with ce mark, I.D mark, WLL and size. This enables each item to be identified quickly. Full certification is available, just ask.
Collared Eye Bolt Sizes
When referring to the size you will typically see M6, M18, M52 etc. This refers to the shank width so an M6 will have a screw shank width of 6mm. An M18 will be 18mm and an M52 will be 52mm – you get the idea! This is highly important to ensure the hole in which it fits into is the same size. If not the bolt will not be secure – if it screws in at all!
Lifting Eye Bolt Thread Types
The shank of a bolt is threaded in order to be able to screw it into a suitable hole to create an anchor point.
You will find three different types of threads in our collared collection. These are metric, whitworth and UNC. Metric is a standard
metric thread whilst Whitworth or whit is the BSW British Standard. UNC is the North American standard.
It is imperative that the screw thread of the bolt chosen matches the thread of the hole in which it is to be fitted. You may find for example that a Whitworth eye bolt will seemingly screw into a UNC threaded hole. However it will be holding on by the skin of its teeth by a few fingertips, it will certainly not hold the intended load safely.
Loading Collared Eye Bolts at an angle
Although collared eyebolts lend themselves to angled loading there are limitations. The full SWL can only be obtained in a vertical lift, there will be a different SWL when the angle between 2 sling legs are anything up to 30 degrees. Another different SWL is used when angles range from 30 to 60 degrees and a final SWL when the angle is between 60 and 90 degrees.
As an example let us look at the M1 1 tonne eye bolt, with a single bolt used in a straight lift the maximum 1 tonne SWL can be achieved, with 2 bolts and a double leg sling and the angle between the sling legs where they meet is up to 30 degrees the SWL will be 1.3 tonne. Between 30 & 60 degrees it will be 0.8 tonne and between 60 & 90 degrees it will be 0.5 tonne.
There are a number of combinations to consider when using multiple eyebolts and slings so you must always refer to the loading charts to ensure you are using your collared bolts correctly. Exceeding safe working loads and safe lifting angles can have dire consequences. View the specifications in the products below to find out more.
