Lift, Pull or add tension with lever hoists, the multi directional manual lifting hoist, perfect for your tool box or work vehicle.
Lever Hoists Explained
There are a few other names that a lever hoist may be referred to as, depending on who you talk to. Consequently pull winch, come along winch, ratchet hoist or a pull lift are some examples you may hear.
These hoists are not just for lifting applications like the majority of other lifting hoists. It can be used for pulling loads and for tensioning tasks. This is because their design enables them to be used in almost any orientation. Therefore all that is required is for the top hook to be attached to suitable anchor point and subsequently the load hook anchored to the load.
The chain can move through the hoist in either direction at the flip of a switch. So forward or reverse movements can easily be made by simply cranking the lever back and forth. This motion moves the chain over gears and pawls. Thus giving it the force and strength needed to pull or lift the load.
There is no need to worry about the load slipping thanks to the automatic brake. This is applied as soon as the lever is released, thus holding the load steady.
An unlimited length of chain can be used with these hoisting devices. Switching out the chain for a new longer one is relatively easy. This is thanks to the free chaining device which can be found on most models. This releases the gears enabling the chain to be manually pulled through at your leisure without the need for cranking the lever.
Where and Why are Lever Hoists Used
These hoists are used in situations where loads need to be lifted, tensioned or pulled in awkward places and/or at awkward angles. They are a manually operated hoist requiring no power source and so can be used pretty much anywhere.
