Why Buy a Height Safety Harness Kit?

height safety harness kits When working at height you should always use appropriate  equipment. There are many components to choose from which can become quite daunting. So at Lifting Equipment Ltd we have put together the most commonly asked for equipment into kit form. Thus making your choice quick and easy. Read on to find out about our popular  harness kits.

Considerations for Safety Harness and Lanyard Kits

There are many different scenarios which occur when working at height. These can affect your choice of safety equipment. Firstly there is the location and environment to consider. Are there any extreme conditions which could affect the equipment or user? Is the area easily accessible and easy to move around in? Next you should think about how the worker needs to move around and how best to be anchored. Are there suitable anchor points from which to attach your equipment. This is important because safety harnesses can have 1 or more attachment points. Your lanyard connections also come with a variety of connectors. So your choice will depend on the type of work to be carried out. Risk assessments should always be carried out before any work carried out at any height commences. And always follow the Working at height regulations.

The Height Safety Kits Include

Each of our height safety harness and lanyard kits have three components the two most important items are the full body safety harness and the harness safety lanyard. All wrapped up in their own hold all bag – the third component in the set.

The Full Body Harness

The body harness varies between the kits in both style, fit and the number of attachment points. Typically the harness will slip over your shoulders, crossing at the centre back then travelling down to the leg/groin straps and back up to the chest strap where there is usually a steel buckle for securing in place. Made from super strong polyester webbing type material and using high quality steel fittings most harnesses can be adjusted to ensure they fit you perfectly. When it comes to attachment points there may be 1, 2, 3 or 4 which are usually in the form of a steel 'D' shaped ring. They are positioned for sternal, dorsal and/or lateral attachment depending on the harness and number of attachment points. Obviously the more attachment points there are the more versatility you will have to change your anchor point to suit your work positioning.

The Safety Harness Lanyard

All our working at height harness kits come with a safety lanyard. In the scaffolders safety kits the webbing lanyard incorporates a shock absorbing feature, which, in the event of a fall the energy dissipater (controlled tear strap) will deploy and break the fall, lessening the forces on the body. There are different fittings at each end; a screw lock karabiner for attaching to the harness and a scaffold safety hook for anchoring to scaffolding. The Restraint kit includes a webbing lanyard with an adjustable length so it can be tailored to your positioning needs. A screw lock karabiner and snap hook completes the design of this work positioning lanyard.
